The Jeep Wrangler Polar special edition graces the Jeep stand at this year’s Frankfurt Motor Show in a new Hydro Blue exterior colour matched to a black interior. It will be available in Europe in the first quarter of next year.
The Polar Special edition features 18″ Gloss Black alloy wheels, body-colored hardtop and Mopar accessories, and draws power from either a 2.8-litre diesel or a 3.6-litre petrol engine. Billet Silver Metallic and Bright White exterior colours are other shades the vehicle can be requested in.
The inspiration for the limited edition is “severe climate and extreme conditions that characterize the Antarctic region.” The “Polar” badge next to the front fender flares reads ’78° S and 106° E’, connoting coordinates where the lowest temperature on earth has ever been recorded (-89.2° C).
Based on the Jeep Wrangler Sahara variant, the exterior features a different front grille featuring gloss black accents on the lamp throats, and a new hard spare-tyre cover. The Powerdome hood, a body-colour hardtop with deep-tint sunscreen glass, a gloss black Jeep logo above the front grille, gloss black 18-inch alloy wheels, a three-colour hood decal, and the black fuel-filler door from Mopar, round out the external changes.
The interior features black leather seats with a pearl white accent stitching and “Polar” logo embroidered on the backrests. Part of the standard equipment are heated front seats, pearl white stitching on the black leather-wrapped steering wheel, armrests and floor console lid, and high-gloss ceramic white painted bezels. The grab-bar on the passenger-side of the dashboard is finished in a high-gloss ceramic white mimicking the contrasting effect of the sunlight on Antarctic glaciers.
The 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine, producing 200hp/460Nm can be matched to either an automatic or a manual transmission. The 3.6-litre V-6 petrol engine, producing 284hp/347Nm is paired only to an automatic gearbox.
