The next generation 2014 Hyundai i10 for European markets was unveiled today at the IAA 2013.
Hyundai has only taken five years to replace the i10 which re-enters a more competitive A-Segment. As per Hyundai, the 2014 i10's virtues are its generous equipment list, functionality and space, fresh design, refined ride and a silent cabin. Hyundai adds that that the new i10 would offer the highest level of safety and comfort for its class.
Features that are shown on the demo car at the Frankfurt Motor Show are auto climate control, heated leather-wrapped steering wheel, cruise control with speed limiter, electronic stability control and front curtain airbags (to be a standard feature).
Based on a new platform, the 2014 i10 is 80mm longer, 65mm wider and 50mm lower than its predecessor. Its boot space stands at 252 liters, a best in class figure. Its wheelbase is 5mm longer, and that Hyundai claims, gives the i10 the segment-best interior space.
The new i10 was designed and developed at the company's Europe Technical Centre in Russelsheim, Germany. The European production of the vehicle has been shifted from Chennai, India to Izmit, Turkey where the capacity has been expanded to 200,000 cars a year. As Hyundai wishes to build more cars in regions where it sells them, the relocation was approved. Production has already started in Izmit.
