Seems like Sri Lanka is the first retail market for the Tata ACE EX2, a refreshed variant of the best selling LCV.
The ACE EX2 debuted at the 2012 Auto Expo but the goods carrier is yet to start selling in India. The EX2 has undergone a comprehensive overhaul and deserves to be marketed as the next generation Ace.
The compact LCV features a completely new exterior and interior. The front fascia ditches the boring circular headlamps in favor of squarish clear lens composite units. The grill and the bumper fit snugly and the ACE now comes painted in metallic colors.
On the inside, the dashboard layout and design have been entirely reworked. The instrument console is shifted to the centre of the dashboard and a new steering wheel, digital clock, mobile charger and a lockable glove box have been incorporated.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. RT Wasan, Head, International Business, Commercial Vehicles, Tata Motors, said -
Having sold over 1 million vehicles on the Tata ACE platform worldwide in 7 years since first introduced, with the Tata ACE EX2 we hope to further achieve newer feats in the next couple of years.
The Tata ACE EX2 is powered by the same 700cc diesel engine producing 16bhp at 3,200rpm. The transmission is a 5-speed manual.
The Tata ACE is a segment leader in India and perhaps the company desires to squeeze a bit more life from the older model before fielding the new one. Nevertheless, expect the Tata ACE EX2 to launch in India anytime now.
The Ace EX2 is priced at 899,000 LKR (INR 4.16 lakhs).
