Following its international premieres in Geneva, New York and Shanghai, the Rolls Royce Wraith, termed by Rolls Royce as the "ultimate gentlemen’s gran turismo" has just launched today in India at 4.6 crores. The Wraith is the fastest and most powerful car Rolls Royce has ever made and today begins its three-month launch tour in New Delhi.
Based on the Ghost, the Wraith features a stylish fastback roof and is 13 cm shorter, 4 cm wider and 4.3 cm lower than the Ghost, and has a wheelbase that is shorter by 18.3 cm.
The interior, though recognizable immediately as a Rolls Royce, has seats for only four occupants and features wraparound wood trim. The features list consists of head-up display, adaptive headlamps, gesture-processing infotainment input pad, voice-activated connectivity and keyless boot opening. Another nippy feature is the 'Satellite Aided Transmission' which uses GPS data to anticipates the driver's move based on location and driving style to select the "most appropriate gear for the terrain ahead."
Power is derived from a V12 engine that makes 624 bhp of peak power and 799 Nm of peak torque paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Wraith can complete the 0-60 mph sprint in 4.4 seconds. Rolls Royce say that they've tuned the suspension to minimize body roll in corners and adjusted steering weight so that it feels heavier at higher speed.
