The next generation Ford Ka (Next generation Ford Figo) was spied recently in the hills of Santa Catarina, a state in southern Brazil. These images are courtesy of Carros.uol's readers, Everton Shimei and Robson B. Carvalho.

This test mule has just arrived by air.

Carros reports that Ford had shipped this test mule in an aircraft (and you can also see the image of the mule on a pallet) for local testing in Brazil. The Ka/Figo successor, which goes by the codename Ford B562, is expected to focus on Brazil before any other international market.

Powering the B562 would be a normally aspirated petrol engine apart from an EcoBoost turbocharged petrol. For markets such as India, expect the B562 to have a diesel power plant in addition to the petrol, displacing under 1.5-liters.

The Brazilian media believe that production of the B562 will commence in Brazil in the first half of 2014. South American analysts also predict that sales of the hatchback would commence in the middle of next year. Unlike the Ka though, the B562 would be a One Ford global car, which implies that the Blue Oval will sell it throughout the world as a sub-Fiesta product.

While this mule is well camouflaged, it seems that the design of the various components have already been finalized.

We don't expect to see a replacement for the Figo arrive before 2015. Whether the B562 would be made at Ford's Chennai plant or at the upcoming Gujarat facility is an unknown to us.
