Jaguar India on Saturday, the 10th of August, launched the Jaguar F-Type in the city of Chennai. The F-Type which was unveiled at the 2012 Paris Motor Show, was launched in India on July 8.
Since then, the company has been introducing the sportscar in a phased approach across the country through the ‘Your Turn To Jag’ program. The two-seater was launched by Mr. Rohit Suri, VP, JLR India and Mr. Arun Surendra, MD of VST Grandeur, JLR’s Chennai dealership.
There are two variants available in India – a 3.0-liter V6 supercharged producing 380PS and a 5.0-liter supercharged V8 producing 495PS. The prices are as follows:
- F-Type 3.0-liter V6 380PS – INR 1.4 crores
- F-Type 5.0-liter V8 495PS – INR 1.65 crores
[Note: Prices are ex-Showroom, Chennai]
Jaguar India registered a sales growth of 68% in the first quarter of this fiscal year, compared to same period last year. The company attributes the surge to the locally assembled 2.2-liter Jaguar XF variant, which launched early this year at a price of INR 44.5 lakhs (ex-Showroom, Mumbai).
At the launch, Mr. Rohit Suri, Vice President, Jaguar & Land Rover India, said –
I am delighted to introduce the Jaguar F-Type in Chennai. Since its recent introduction to the Indian market, this two seater sports car has received a phenomenal response from its customers and prospects and we believe that it will be a game changer for the Indian sports car market.
