The Mazda CX-3 is yet another new name in the ever expanding list of compact crossovers.
The Japanese manufacturer has stepped up its product launches lately with the new Mazda6 and the Mazda3 hatchback. The Mazda3 sedan will be launched soon, perhaps at the Frankfurt Motor show in September.
Autobild.de reports that Mazda is also working on a compact crossover SUV which would sit under the CX-5. The car will be targeting the European markets and would rival the likes of Ford EcoSport and Opel Mokka (rebadged Chevrolet Trax). Here are a set of renderings of the upcoming mini SUV.
Like the recent Mazdas, the CX-3 will be benefited from a range of petrol and diesel engines that adopt SKYACTIV technology. The i-ELOOP regenerative braking system will also make it on board. The car will also offer optional 4WD system.

In terms of styling, the CX-3 would look like a baby CX-5. The front grill and the headlamps would get smaller and sleeker. According to Autobild, the CX-3 will be 30cm shorter than the CX-5. The rear of the car too is expected to derive cues from the CX-5 but it would feature sharper elements.
The Mazda CX-3 is expected to hit the market sometime in 2015.
