The Ford EcoSport sports SUV like styling, plenty of features and an affordable price tag. Today you can add a lengthy waiting period to that list! Apparently, customers can't get enough and Ford cannot make enough.
This image from Indian Autos Blog reader Venkat Chaitanya Mantravadi goes to show the demand-supply gap for the Urban SUV. Petrol variants have a high demand (Ford is making fewer petrol powered EcoSports as diesel cars enjoy the greater demand).
Irrespective of the variant you choose, the waiting period is a staggering 180 days or 6 months. Makes sense as the base 1.5 petrol is priced at INR 5.59 lakhs (ex-Showroom New Delhi).

We were told by a Ford dealer that even the automatic petrol has contributed to a large chunk of the sales. The 1.0-liter EcoBoost EcoSport on the other hand is gradually finding takers with an estimated waiting period of 90-150 days.
It seems that the base diesel models such as the Ambiente and the Trend have the least waiting period with the dealer estimating a minimum of 30 days to a maximum of 90 days depending on the color availability.
Ford recently announced that they bagged 30,000 bookings within 17 days of the launch. The company also recalled the diesel variants of the EcoSport for repositioning the Glow Plug Module. The recall has had no immediate effect on sales.
