Mercedes-Benz India will launch the 2014 Mercedes E 63 AMG on the 25th of July, but before getting down to business, arousing interest among Mercedes enthusiasts and fanboys can stir up publicity.
Hence teasers showing images applied with filters and special effects are being posted regularly, with captions asking viewers to guess the model in question.
At the heart of the new E 63 AMG (part of the 2014 E Class family) is a 5.5-litre V8 biturbo that produces two grades of outputs - 557 hp/720 Nm and 585 hp/800 Nm. This represents an increment of up to 32 hp and 20 Nm compared to the respective outgoing models. Increase in peak pressure and rise and charge pressure are the technical basis for the output improvement. The engine's dry weight is 204kg, leading to a very impressive power:weight ratio.
Direct injection, Biturbocharging, an all-aluminium crankcase, 4-valve tech with camshaft adjustment, generator management and a start/stop function are some other facets of the engine.
0-100 km/h from a standing start in dispatched in 3.6 seconds, while the maximum speed is electronically locked at 250 km/h.
Power is transferred to the road via an AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive system with a power distribution ratio of 33:67 percent (front axle:rear axle). The car is driven through an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed transmission governed by a processor capable of performing 260 million calculations per second.
