The 2014 Mercedes E 63 AMG has been launched in India at a whopping Rs. 1.29 crore (ex-showroom Delhi).
The regular 2014 E Class was launched in India last month and now the lineup is complemented by the insanely powerful AMG variant. While the regular variants focus on transporting you with utmost comfort and silence, the brat from Affalterbach is all about a great exhaust sound and monstrous performance.
Globally, the new E 63 AMG is available in two variants - a regular AMG and an AMG S. In India we get only the less powerful regular AMG variant which puts out 557bhp and 720 Nm of torque.
The enormous power is laid on the road through the rear wheels. The transmission is a 7-G DCT automatic which gets its orders from an electronic brain capable of doing 260 million calculations per second! 0-100kph is achieved in 4.2 seconds and the top speed is electronically limited to 250kph.
Visually, the E 63 AMG is differentiated from the plain vanilla variants by an aggressive front bumper and body kit, bigger alloy wheels, rear diffuser with quad exhaust tips and AMG badging. Inside, the sedan gets AMG sports seats and sport steering wheel wrapped in black Nappa leather. The door sills and the seat restraints carry the AMG logo.
The Mercedes E 63 AMG is all set to take the BMW M5 head on.
