The next generation 2015 Mustang (or 2014 Mustang as some people are calling it) should be unveiled sometime next year. In our last story, we showed you two design renderings of what the next generation muscle car could be like.
News further emerges that Ford would be building a special edition version of the next generation Mustang to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the car. It would likely be called the 2014 1/2 edition or the the 2014.5 edition. Only 1,000 units would be made. All these 1,000 units would have a special VIN apart from an interesting body.
The engine would remain the same 5.0-liter V8 producing about 450bhp though. There are no performance upgrades being planned. However, Mustangs Daily reports that each of these 1,000 units would be instant collector's items.
A Ford representative has said -
The 2014 ½ will be the 50th Anniversary edition. It will be added to production for a limited run sometime during the year.
A 50th Anniversary edition certainly makes sense as Ford has done limited editions in the past. In 2009, we saw the 45th anniversary edition, 2004 saw the 40th and 1999 saw the 35th.
The new Mustang which has been denoted S550 (for its platform) has been rendered many a time based on spy images. However, considering that the test mules have been heavily camouflaged, we have no idea how accurate those renderings really are.
