A heavily camouflaged test mule of the 2015 Land Rover Freelander doing rounds in Trivandrum, Kerala, has been intriguing the people in the city.
The test mule has been spotted a number of times previously and here is another set from Mr. Syam, a reader of Motorbash.com. The car wears local registration plates. It looks something like an Evoque with a long wheelbase but the final design could be different.
As we mentioned earlier, Tata Elxsi Research and Development Center located in Trivandrum could be working on the car's embedded software or electronics and that explains the test mule's presence in the city.
To recap events, the next gen Freelander could quit its current position and join the Discovery lineup. Various reports suggest that the car which is based on the extended Evoque platform will be offered in both five and seven seat versions.
The AJ-200 series of four cylinder engines that are being developed jointly by Jaguar and Land Rover is likely to power the new SUV. There are also rumors about a supercharged petrol motor.
The current Freelander 2 is assembled in India for the domestic market and the next gen car too could follow the same route.
The 2015 Land Rover Freelander is expected towards the end of 2014.
