Maruti Suzuki is celebrating the first anniversary of the super-hit Ertiga MPV with customers through launching the Maruti Ertiga Feliz special edition. Last week the special edition’s brochure scans were uploaded to a Facebook group revealing prematurely what was coming.

Today, through a Facebook album, Maruti themselves have announced the changes or additions to the car in high resolution. The brochure upload confirmed that the model would be available only on the penultimate variants in both petrol (VXi) and diesel (VDi).

Roundup of the additions to the Maruti Ertiga Feliz

  • Silver front grille
  • Body graphics on the doors
  • Silver accent around the foglamps
  • Silver outside mirror enclosures
  • Rear spoiler
  • Interior styling kit
  • Back seat pocket organizer
  • Beige steering wheel cover
  • Reverse parking sensor with a digital display
  • New beige color seat covers
  • Seat covers have Feliz branding
  • Feliz branding car pillows
  • New door sill guard
  • New floor mats

More than celebrating a birthday, the Feliz also has the ambiguous task of keeping customers distracted from new launches like the Chevrolet Enjoy and the Mahindra Xylo H-Series, which for the features or technology they offer, are priced well.

The Feliz sports body graphics on the doors and silver accents to the grille area and the outside mirror housings.

The Ertiga is a cash cow for Maruti, as its based on the already successful Swift platform. The diesel variants are selling steadily well, while petrol variants are shipped to Thailand and Indonesia, either directly or indirectly, where the model constitutes the top selling family vans.

Maruti recently began supplying the Ertiga to Mazda, which rebadges it as the VX-1 to the Indonesian market.

India badly needs a competitor for Honda city. We Inidians have a mindset that is more closer to japanese brands. With toyota failing to give a decent sedan in Etios and currently branded as taxi, I as a typical indian would not prefer that.

Manza I feel is poorly built and looks ugly for me. Verito is in a fix. More than anything the attitude of mahindra and dealers kill.
More than anything, for an not so optimized engine the service cost is killing.

Ertiga for the size and weight (1700 KG +) I feel the engines both petrol and the diesel engines do more duty for giving the expected performance and hence there by giving a lesser life for the car as such.

With all these I feel the only best of the class choice is Honda city , which is the best overall for a family sedan. This is outdated as well.

Hence without looking for some quick bucks by announcing variants, , Maruti should concentrate on this and give a decent looking family car in the league of etios and city, which will be good for the people as well as the company.
