Mahindra launched the H-Series Xylo variants here in Pune this afternoon. The car was announced last week in Jaipur followed by Ahmedabad. Prices of the new Xylo variants begin at 8.10 lakh, ex-showroom Pune.
As discussed last week, three variants of the car have been introduced in place of the E Series - H4 (ABS option), H8 (ABS & Airbag option) and H9 (voice command, cruise control, digital drive assist, etc). These variants replace the E4, E8 and E9 variants, without any increase in prices.
Central to the new variants is the 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine which produces outputs of 120PS and 280Nm. Previously, these variants were powered by a less powerful and less fuel efficient 2.5-liter mEagle engine.
The 2.2-liter mHawk engine returns a fuel economy of 14.02 kpl in the ARAI test cycle. The 5-speed transmission (5MT 320) paired to this engine is also new to the Xylo.
Features that were introduced during its launch in January 2009 as well as during its re-launch in February 2012 such as snack trays, electrically adjustable outside mirrors, charging ports, reverse parking assist, dual airbags and an improved suspension system, are retained on the H-Series variants.
The Xylo H-Series comes in the previously offered five body colours. The sixth colour, which is new, is the Dolphin Grey.
