As discussed last week, three variants of the car have been introduced in place of the E Series – H4 (ABS option), H8 (ABS & Airbag option) and H9 (voice command, cruise control, digital drive assist, etc). These variants replace the E4, E8 and E9 variants, without any increase in prices.

The only change to the body would be the badge at the rear, which now features the letter ‘H’ in the alpha-numeric nomenclature.

Central to the new variants is the 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine which produces outputs of 120PS and 280Nm. Previously, these variants were powered by a less powerful and less fuel efficient 2.5-liter mEagle engine.

The 2.2-liter mHawk engine returns a fuel economy of 14.02 kpl in the ARAI test cycle. The 5-speed transmission (5MT 320) paired to this engine is also new to the Xylo.

The 2.2L mHawk engine has been serving the top-end Xylo variant since the facelift launched in February last year.

Features that were introduced during its launch in January 2009 as well as during its re-launch in February 2012 such as snack trays, electrically adjustable outside mirrors, charging ports, reverse parking assist, dual airbags and an improved suspension system, are retained on the H-Series variants.

The Xylo H-Series comes in the previously offered five body colours. The sixth colour, which is new, is the Dolphin Grey.

Its good to see M&M coming out with a new face lifted Xylo with Mhawk engine. Apparently, this should have been done long ago to keep the best foot forward vis-à-vis Innova and other upcoming MPV’s. It will appreciated if 4wd version of Xylo H8/9 models come out soon. The 4wd mechanism can directly be incorporated from Scorpio 4wd power train. The driving dynamics needs to be checked/interpolated with the XUV 500 driving dynamics. This method will cost the company very meagre sum to develop the aforesaid model and I’m sure it will hit the market instanty, ofcourse, the price tag has to be competitive.
