Honda Amaze waves at Maruti Dzire with 22,000 bookings

HOnda Amaze mumbai launch silverThe booking figures of Honda’s latest launch, the Amaze, is growing day by day and it has boldly stood against the competition offered by Maruti Dzire.

According to Business-standard.com, the entry level sedan has received more than 22,000 bookings within three weeks of its launch.

The first diesel powered car from Honda has been well received by customers. Honda showrooms are repeatedly encountering consumers wanting for test drives and as a result the dealership outfits are working over time.

The successful reception of Amaze in the market largely depends on the record breaking fuel economy it offers and the aggressive price tag. The base petrol variant starts at 4.99lakhs while the diesel model begins from 5.99lakhs (both prices are ex-showroom Delhi).

With the sales figures of 4,852 units, Honda has registered 20% growth since the launch of Amaze family sedan. This is about thrice more than that of the Brio hatchback and the City sedan.

This has come up at the time when the auto industry is facing a downturn in sales numbers. In March, the car segment saw 23% fall in sales according to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM).

Honda has a production capacity of 10,000 units per month and the way Amaze is picking up means that the Japanese giant will have its work cut out at its factory in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The press shop and the powertrain unit at Tapukara, Rajasthan is also running at full throttle.

Honda has invested Rs 2,500 crore to double its total annual capacity to 240,000 units with a new production line in Tapukara plant by 2014.

This seems like just a hype generated. However I believe Maruti Suzuki is the most genuine. Their cars are value for money especially the Dzire. Their sales figures are also genuine which is no surprise considering the performance of their cars..

Absolutely ! I feel that is high on everyone’s wish list. Come 2014 & 2015 -you’ll see some of the best Honda products ever with the 1.5 litre Earth Dreams Diesel under their hood in India. And, that includes the City, Jazz, new MPV and mini SUV. I’d want to see the CRV with the Diesel too. Just a dream line up of products 🙂

I am not at all Amazed by Amaze’s booking numbers.
At a time when car buying is all time low, to click 22k booking in few weeks is similar to booking double the numbers, in non slump times. I will not be wondered to see Amaze to be car of the year and winning numerous awards and also making a record for fastest selling car in India, in it’s category.

What Duster did to[ still doing] Renault, bringing Renault in lime light.

Same,Amaze is doing for Honda, bringing Honda in lime light.

Well…I had commented on IAB on April 18, 2013 that Amaze would clock 25000 bookings in a few weeks time 🙂 Not far off from the mark …. 🙂

Amaze is so good a product that I feel you would hardly see a customer who has booked an Amaze moving away to other products because of the waiting period factor. Just like the Swift and Dzire was selling with extended waiting periods of more than 6 months from the time they were launched.

Finally Honda is alive and kicking in India, expect bigger fireworks from them n 2014 🙂 Great for the Indian market !!!
