Land Rover has released the price and specifications for its all-new Range Rover Sport for the UK market, which is a sportier interpretation of the new Range Rover.
However the company says that the car is made up of 75% of unique parts. Unveiled at the 2013 New York Auto Show, it has an aluminum Unibody design which saves weight up to 420kg for the diesel version over the outgoing model.
Land Rover depicts the SUV as “the fastest, most agile and most responsive Land Rover ever” and one of important models in its line-up. It will be placed below the Discovery 4 and the Range Rover. The first deliveries are scheduled to get underway in the third quarter of this year.
The sleeker 2014 Range Rover Sport is 62mm longer than its predecessor with a significantly longer wheelbase offering a 5+2 seating option. The new Range Rover Sport has shorter overhangs despite being longer than the previous model with undisturbed body lines on
the sides.
Born out of Premium Lightweight Architecture platform (PLA), the new Sport is shorter and lower than regular Range Rover and is aerodynamic with a drag coefficient of 0.34. It also boasts Adaptive Dynamics system featuring continuously variable dampers (CVD). It's technologically advanced and can measure the depth of water while off-roading!
Engine options are down to three. A 255hp 3.0 litre TDV6 and a 288hp 3.0 litre SDV6 burn diesel while the petrol power comes from the 5.0 litre V8 engine rated at 503hp. All the three engines come with Stop/Start technology and an eight-speed electronically controlled ZF 8HP70 automatic transmission as standard features.
The pricing of the all-new Range Rover Sport starts at £51,550 (43.2 lakhs) and goes all way to £74,995 (62.89 lakhs).
