Just as what the Etios is meant to do in India, the Vios targets first-time car buyers with lots of space, high fuel economy and an attractive design. The Thailand factory will make about 130k units of the Vios this year and 80k units have been earmarked for exports to 80 countries.

India is considered among the biggest growing markets in the world, but we have no idea if the Vios will eventually launch in India to compete in the segment right below the Corolla Altis, dominated by the Hyundai Verna and Honda City. Toyota haven’t released the roster of markets the Vios has in mind.

Toyota needs to seriously think about the indian market and come up with class leading products. You can’t depend your entire country production on just one MPV model. The etios and liva have been nothing great to talk about inspite of the media onslought. The fortuner has been doing well but not many can afford to buy a vehicle at such a price point inspite it being a very good product.Toyota needs to focus more on the sub 10 lakh price bracket for the indian market. Something more attractive than the dated etios. And the Vios could be one such product that needs to be in the scheme of things for Toyota India.
