Volkswagen has quite a lot to show us at this year's Geneva Motor Show.
We're coming to you live from the show floor where the Germans have just unveiled the crossover based on the Up! platform.
It is called the Cross Up! It will join the likes of the CrossPolo, CrossGolf and Cross Touran; sort of pseudo off roaders to take on bad roads rather than 45 degree inclines.
The Cross Up! is based on the five door version of the Up! The suspension is not raised but it sits on 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 185/50 section tyres. Thus, it has 15 mm more ground clearance than the normal Up.
Highlighting features of the VW Cross Up!
- ‘SUV themed’ black body cladding over the wheel arches and side sills
- Light metallic silver finish for the bumper and the exterior mirrors
- Special trim on the seats available in red or charcoal and a contrast dashboard (available in red, black or silver)
- Fog lights
- Leather steering wheel
- Electric front windows
- Remote central locking
- Heated outside mirrors
- Split rear seats
It is powered by a 1.0L, three-cylinder petrol engine churning 74hp connected to a five-speed manual gearbox driving the front wheels.
The new Cross Up! has a starting price of €13,925 (9.97 lakhs INR).
