Geneva Live – Qoros 3 sedan, 3 Estate Concept and Cross Hybrid Concept unveiled

Geneva Motor Show has given birth to Qoros, a brand new automotive marque.
Regular Indian Autos Blog readers would know that Qoros is a result of partnership between the Chinese automaker Chery and an Israeli firm called Quantum LLC. The brand broke the ice with the automotive fraternity at Geneva and it did so by unveiling not one but three cars, out of which one is ready for production while the rest are concepts.
Qoros 3 Sedan
The Qoros 3 Sedan is the first product of the new born brand and is slated to go on sale first in China by the second half of 2013. Later the car will slowly invade European markets. Here are the details you need to know about the Qoros 3 Sedan.
- A pair of 1.6 litre petrol engines – 126bhp normally aspirated and 156 bhp turbocharged
- 4 ,615 mm long and 1,839 mm wide
- 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission
- Start/Stop system available as standard
- 8″ touchscreen infotainment system offered as standard
Qoros 3 Estate Concept
The Qoros 3 Estate, as apparent from its looks, is the station wagon avatar of the 3 sedan. Since Qoros has ambitions to market their cars in Europe, the estate version becomes indispensable and the 3 Estate looks production ready. It could well be the second production model from the car maker’s stable. No further details have been announced but we reckon it would use the same engine options as its sedan brother.
Qoros Cross Hybrid Concept
The Qoros Hybrid Concept makes do with a 1.2 litre turbo petrol engine which propels the front wheels and an electric motor which takes care of the rear wheels. There is another electric motor which is integrated into the engine, called the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). The crossover borrows its styling from the 3 sedan but sits higher and the bottom part of the body gets black plastic cladding. With the compact crossover fever spreading like an epidemic throughout the world, the Cross Hybrid could prove to be a prodigy.
Qoros also announced that there will be a new car in every 6-12 month interval. Now that’s something to look forward for!
