The 2013 Skoda Octavia is percolating into European markets and as a parallel process, Skoda is firming up new variants such as the Combi and the vRS to hit production lines this year.
Skoda has plotted a total of 8 launches until December 2013, and the new Octavia family is the main beneficiary of this product-rich business plan.
Skoda’s social media team has uploaded a new TV commercial of the 2013 Octavia on to Youtube. The advertisement agency has orchestrated how simple everyday joys can be had by driving your family in an Octavia.
The new Octavia is very witty car and is pure value for money. It is almost 11cm longer in wheelbase than the outgoing model, making rear seat travel that much more pleasurable. Its 590 liter boot space is what one usually gets in a higher segment. There are four gasoline and diesel engine options paired to either a 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual or a 6-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.
The scale-up in the specification does not reflect in a steep price increase. The philosophy of “more for less” worked like a dream for the Superb, so there’s no reason for it to fail on the smaller Octavia, which is marginally more expensive than the car it replaces.
The new Octavia would be the first MQB platform car to launch in India. Test mules are yet to be spotted on local soil, but we hear that cars will reach dealer showrooms in mid-2013.
