Honda Brio-based MPVThe second derivative from the Brio platform after the Amaze sedan, the Honda Brio MPV, is very likely to be showcased to the world at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) this September.

The Brio MPV is one of the most important products from the Honda stable for ASEAN countries. India also is touted to be one of the prime markets for this MPV.

The world debut is set in Indonesia as the country loves MPVs and the Brio MPV was designed with lot of inputs from Honda's Indonesian subsidiary. In fact the Brio MPV will roll out of Honda's new factory located in West Java that comes on stream next year.

The small MPV would sit below the Honda Freed and would lock horns with the Suzuki Ertiga, the Mazda VX-1 which is a rebadged Ertiga, the Toyota Avanza, Daihatsu Xenia and the Chevrolet Spin.

Mr. Jonfis Fandy, Director of marketing and after sales service at Honda Prospect Motor, the Indonesian subsidiary of Honda, had told the media that a MPV model along with a city car would premiere at IIMS 2013. However he declined to talk in detail about the two new launches.

The Brio MPV is expected to carry the same 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol engine that powers the Brio. For India, it is obvious that the 1.5 litre i-DTEC EarthDreams diesel motor that will debut in the Amaze sedan would take charge. Honda will use the Brio master-brand on the MPV's nameplate as well.
