So far we have only heard luxury brands tapping the Chinese demand for lengthened cars. Now, we even see Skoda ‘lengthening’ its product portfolio to suit the Chinese demand.

Here are some sightings of the Skoda Yeti LWB’s body at the Shanghai-Volkswagen joint venture plant. One can see that the Yeti has been stretched in the middle to create more space for the rear passengers.

The roof is also extended a bit further because of the large panoramic sunroof. Most cars are stretched at the B pillar and some around the C-pillar. But the Skoda Yeti LWB is stretched on the rear door itself.  The total gain in length is expected to be 60 mm.

The Skoda Yeti LWB will be available with a 1.4 TSI or a 1.8 TSI. You can either choose a 6-speed manual or 6-speed DSG. The base models will only come in a 4X2 avatar. The higher more expensive variants will come with a Haldex 4X4 system.

We can expect Skoda to launch the Yeti LWB only in China. Sohu also shows images of the Yeti with camouflaged front and rear-ends and the spare wheel mounted on the tailgate. The camouflage could be hiding an updated design language based on the VisionD concept.

The cobwebs will be cleared in the following months when more spyshots of the Chinese Yeti hit the internet.
