Audi Q5 faceliftAudi Q5 certainly has played one of the important roles in the Ingolstadt based auto maker's strong show this year.

The SUV which was launched in 2008 received a mid life refresh earlier this year, showcased at Beijing Motor Show. The facelifted Q5 is being launched in international markets progressively and India is slated to receive it in 2013, the year which is expected to witness the fiercest battle for the luxury segment throne.

The visual upgrades to the crossover is subtle and most of them miss the eyes on a first glance. However park the old and the facelifted model side by side and you will realize that the new car looks much sharper. The headlamps sport contoured LED lighting which is turning out to be Audi's signature touch.

The new front grill is slightly revised and it is a single frame unit now. The front bumper also had undergone some mild reprofiling. The rear gets a redesigned diffuser with twin tail pipes which are flattened at the bottom.

Under the skin there has been more than just a minor tweak. The hydraulic power steering has made way for an electromechanical unit which lowers fuel consumption. The chassis is tuned for better ride comfort.

The engine options for India is expected to remain same as the current car. The 2.0 litre TDI and 3.0 litre TDI diesel engines will join the 2.0 litre TFSI petrol motor.

We reckon that facilifting the Audi Q5 will  be the top agenda for Audi India in the new year.
