Today, Tata Motors have confirmed to Indian Autos Blog that the Storme launches on the 17th, but are not forthcoming with any additional details.

What do we know about the Tata Safari Storme?

According to our sources, the Storme is equipped with a 2.2L ‘VERiCOR’ diesel engine that benefits greatly from the improvements and additions incorporated to the Aria's 2.2L mill. It will be presented in three variants - LX, EX and VX - while two base variants of the existing Safari, LX and EX, will continue unharmed.

We are expecting a premium of 1.5 lakh rupees over the previous variants. The expected price range of the Storme is Rs. 10.5 to 13.8 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

What are the key features of the Tata Safari Storme?

  • Music System
  • Power Steering
  • Power Windows with Auto-Up
  • Electronically Adjustable ORVM
  • Remote Central Locking
  • Driver Seat Height and Lumbar Support
  • Engine Immobilizer
  • ABS with EBD
  • Wood and Chrome inserts on the interiors

Can it sizzle like the Renault Duster?

The Renault Duster has started flooding roads in bigger Indian cities and has 20,000 customers waiting in the queue. Giving it company is the Maruti Ertiga which is yet another new face that has done well this year, with close to 45,000 bookings. Tata Motors will hope to strike a comeback, and they badly need this launch to work for them as one has to turn back a few chapters to see a fast-selling Tata product.

New launches in recent years like the Aria (2010) and Sumo Grande (2008) have not fared very well and the Storme will have to rewrite that script quickly.
