Honda launches Brio AT, adds new EX variant in Manual

Honda Brio AT dashboardHonda Cars India has launched the automatic version of their B Segment hatchback Honda Brio.

Apart from AT, Honda also launched a new manual transmission variant EX which sits above the base E variant. The Brio lineup is now available with Honda Care Maintenance package (HCMP) which is priced at Rs.9,996.

HCMP offers free periodic maintenance service up to 40,000km or 2 years, whichever is earlier.

The Brio AT comes with a compact five-speed automatic gearbox whose gear shifts are executed by drive by wire technology. The gearbox uses a combination of close and wide ratios to achieve a balance between performance and fuel economy.

Opining on the launch, Mr. Jnaneswar Sen, Senior Vice President of Marketing and sales at Honda said: "Automatic transmissions are gaining popularity in hatchback segment due to our stop-go traffic. Our dealer and customer voice indicated that there is a good potential for automatic in the Brio segment"

The EX variant is available only in manual version and comes with a single DIN audio system with front speakers, body coloured ORVMs and door handles.

Honda Brio AT is the only five speed automatic hatchback in India, the other hatchbacks in and around its class offering AT are Maruti A-Star and Hyundai i10. The Hyundai i20 is also available with an automatic transmission, paired to a bigger 1.4L petrol engine.
