The Tata Nano diesel may be plagued by engineering challenges but the CNG version is all set to enter the market by Diwali.

We have managed to present the next set of spy shots, thanks to our alert reader Snatak Mundada who spotted the car testing in Pune streets.
The car looks like any other Nano and the CNG sticker on the rear windshield is the only give away.
Tata showcased the Nano CNG concept at this year’s Auto Expo and according to the press release, the components for the CNG kit is sourced from world class suppliers and the safety circuit will cut off fuel supply even if a very minute leakage is detected.
The CNG tank is rumored to have a capacity of 17 litres and is packed efficiently without interfering into the luggage space. The Nano’s CNG version will bring down the running costs significantly and will also emit less CO2. The only challenge for the CNG variant is the availability. Most parts of India don't have refilling stations to support CNG cars, but the good news is more states are interested in setting up the infrastructure.
Expected to be launched by Diwali, the Nano CNG will be sold in cities where the gaseous fuel is available.
Tata hopes that adding a CNG variant will add respectable numbers to the sales volume, currently driven by the petrol variant.
