Mahindra Quanto caught uncamouflaged during a TV shoot
Kaustubh Shinde, They say sooner or later your passion finds you. Sometime in late 2009, I started writing for IAB and ever since then it has been a roller coaster ride for me. An amazing experience that has taught me a lot, taken me to new places, driven some great cars and met some amazing people. When you don't find me on IAB (very rarely), you will find me either at a coffee shop or an eatery or at the nearest gadget store.Hope you enjoy IAB as much as we do!
As the launch day nears, Mahindra is busy preparing marketing material for the new Quanto Compact SUV.
TeamBHPian Vc.vinay has managed to capture a few images of the Mahindra Quanto whilst it was shooting for its TV commercial. These are the first on-road sightings of the Quanto without any camouflage.
The Mahindra Quanto, as we all know, is a sub 4 meter SUV based on the Mahindra Xylo’s ‘Ingenio’ platform which also underpins the Genio pick up.
Speculations are rife that it will be powered by a 1.5L, 3 cylinder, mCR100 engine generating 100 bhp and 240 Nm torque @ 3750 RPM. The acclaimed mileage is a whopping 17.3 kmpl.
It will borrow the DDAS system from the Xylo that displays Average FE, Distance to Empty, Temperature etc.
We are expecting the Quanto to be fully loaded with exciting features such as such as Airbags, ABS brakes, 6-spoke alloy wheels, steering-mounted controls for audio, Bluetooth compatibility, height-adjustable driver seat and reverse parking sensors.
The only relevant competition will come from the Renault Duster and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Other contenders such as the Premier Rio might not be able to fight Mahindra’s massive marketing/sales/service machinery.
Many hatchback and sedan buyers would love the high riding position of an SUV and the two extra seats at the back. Thus, we’re expecting the Mahindra Quanto to have a very successful run in the Indian market if it is priced right.
We will get you more details from the launch scheduled on the 20th of this month.
