Mercedes B Class at the BICIt was learned by IndianAutosBlog.com recently that Mercedes Benz India is considering to launch the B Class Sports Tourer in the third week of September.

Mercedes India also has its next launch, the A Class, on the back of its mind. The smallest Mercedes will touch down in July 2013.

Mercedes Benz India announced the launch of the B Class a few weeks ago at the Buddh International Circuit where we got a chance to drive the car for a few laps.

Mercedes Benz has announced an interesting promotional campaign to sell the car to the youth of India, loaded with adventure and outdoor activities. They have signed up celebrity couples to promote the car, some of who in the last few weeks have unveiled the car in main metros.

Test drives have not started as demo vehicles are in the LHD configuration and of slightly higher spec.

The B Class will enter India with a petrol variant (B180) through the CBU route. There are no immediate plans to locally assemble the B Class or to bring down a diesel variant, but in the coming years Mercedes could localize the MFA Platform as five compact cars on this platform are making their way to India.

Mercedes is targeting to grab 15% of 25 lakh rupee segment and the first batch of customers are likely to be Mercedes Benz owners already.
