Indian Autos Blog's die hard fan Subbu spotted the first Ford EcoSport testing in Chennai without any camouflage. The intriguing bit is the car in contention is the more practical (from the trade perspective) TDCI (diesel) variant in Titanium spec.
Subbu claims the mule is a complete production vehicle with bar code stickers and emblems.
Counting in the fact that this is a test mule (notice the color mismatch on the rear fender) we cannot be completely sure if this car is speaking the truth. The chrome garnish on the front grille is missing and, Titanium, considered as a top-tier Ford variant, has to be endowed with this important ingredient. The frontal shot reveals the missing fog lights and more color mismatch on the fascia.
Having said that, some of the best features such as the cobweb style alloy wheels, roof rails, body colored fittings, side mirrors indicators and rear wiper grace this prototype.
Subbu couldn't manage a shot of the interior which would have given away some more details on the variant identity of this mule.
Under this EcoSport's hood is a recaliberated 1.5-liter diesel engine borrowed from the Fiesta. Ford India has confirmed that it won't introduce the vehicle in 2012 and is looking at early 2013 as a probable timeline.
The EcoSport is a sub-4 meter SUV that is built using components of the Fiesta. It is a global SUV project that has 100 markets in its hit list.
