Tata Motors has presented promotional footage of the next generation Safari – the Safari Storme – on its Youtube channel. The Storme retains the predecessor’s 2.2-liter DICOR engine making 140PS@4,000 RPM and 320Nm@1,700-2,700 RPM.
It is exactly the same length as the original, but slightly wider (1965 mm compared to 1918 mm) and a wee bit shorter (1922mm). The wheelbase is identical and the ground clearance has been reduced by 5mm. An improved 5-speed manual transmission and electronic shift on the fly to 4×4 are also carried over.
The new Safari comes with features such as pull type door handles, wooden finish on the center console and doors, underfloor spare wheel mounting and reverse parking system.

The car looks smooth yet muscular, combination of power and passion. Tata safari is an icon in India. The Tata Safari Storme seems to have the potential to compete with any other foreign car makers.
As per Tata’s, the New Tata Safari Storme, has been showcased as a vehicle with buttoned down clean looks , and the Gr.Clearance reduced to 195mm , but why name it as safari storme, My impression of a safari & to many like me was always considered as a rough vehicle for an off-roader anytime anywhere to go, since i have the May-2011 model with Engine specks remain the same, the older version stands admired by many and has a 2nd glance as always, it should not be discontinued at any cost, Veerendra Kumar, Hyderabad
Read earlier that JLR engineers are working on the new Safari. But it seems like all they managed to do is to lift the back off LR Discovery. I will wait for the full review though.
At 0:17 it looked liked sumo grande
no steering mounted controls
no auto transmission or 6 speed shift
but leave
this all
it’s a good car if its priced the same as present safari
Its almost like the Tata designers after doing the front decided to screw up a little with the back end, so that they have something to improve in the next edition.
The rear looks absolutly uninspiring….
In one word.. understated elegance. Safari’s ads were always a class apart. This version comes with pretty good safety features as well.
