Nissan was caught testing the upcoming Sunny (Micra platform sedan) near the Chennai airport an hour ago. These pictures were picked up in thick traffic and at night, so you have to excuse us for their slightly low quality.
Nissan started selling the Sunny in the Chinese market last December and intends to bring it to India during Diwali under a different name. Sources say "Almera" is being internally considered but what it turns out to be, we have to wait till the launch to know.
Engine options for the Sunny sedan will be the 4-cylinder 1.6-liter petrol engine and the oil-burning 1.5-liter unit from the Micra. The sedan could get strapped with an automatic transmission. Nissan will pit the locally-manufactured Sunny against the likes of the VW Vento, new Hyundai Verna and new Ford Fiesta.
