After successfully launching its entry level SUV – BMW X1, the company is getting ready to launch its rival in the mid-size SUV segment – BMW X3. The BMW X3 will rival the likes of Audi Q5, Land Rover Freelander and Volvo XC60.
Indian Autos Blog has been told by sources that BMW will assemble the X3 in India at the Chennai plant. Currently the X3 is a CBU. The assembly operation could begin very soon for a mid 2011 launch. The X3 is basically an SAV that sits between the X1 and X5
Globally, the X3 is available in petrol and diesel engine options such as
- 2.0-litre Diesel engine producing 184bhp
- 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine producing 302bhp
Expect the X3 to hit Indian roads later this year with a pricing between 41-44 lakh.
