Our good friends at IndianCarsBikes began the morning with some news on the Mahindra Global SUV (Codename – W201).
Sources close to ICB reveal that the 17 lakh rupee SUV will have the same 2.2-liter unit from the Scorpio tuned to produce 138Bhp of power and 320Nm of torque.
There will be two transmission choices – A 6-speed manual and an automatic.

For an Automatik transmission 16 to17 las with the Same Engine As the scorpio.are they Bone bananas.do they think that Indian consumers are so stupid.a Price point of 12 to 14 lacs would be more reasonable with automatic selling at 14 lacs on road.with a heavy car they need more power and they need to make the engine much more refined and silent.I drive a Scorpio and I am looking for a change to automatic living in Delhi is he’ll.traffic is killing..???.please launch automatic for the w 201 at the same time at a reasonable price
Instead of offering auto gearbox in current MUV’s these guys are creating products in a new category!!…these guys have lost the picture…this includes tata, toyota..and the whole segment!! Aria case in point…cars are finding no buyers really…tata is now busy stripping it..in my opinion these guys should go back to understanding the consumer better instead of dumping crap at lower prices and then putting out fully loaded vehicles at price points where no one will buy
17 lakhs is for the top end
How are they going to provide a trouble free auto gear box when they cannot even make a good gear box for a bike ?
320 NM of torque – if it is in the 2000- 3000 ROM band, it will be amazing, and will give several SUVs – Yeti, X1, Santa Fe etc a solid run for their money at 17 lakhs!
