In the recent edition of Autocar India, it is mentioned that Toyota could introduce the Etios hatch in March 2011. The hatchback comes with a 1.2-liter petrol engine developing around 80bhp and return close to 20kmpl in the ARAI fuel economy test.
Toyota is also looking at the option of the 1.4-liter diesel engine employed in Altis diesel. The major difference here is the absence of a VGT. Toyota will instead opt for a fixed geometry turbo that will cost less. It goes without saying that an improved fuel economy will be achieved through the use of a diesel engine.
Toyota is weighing the option of throwing in the sedan’s 1.5-liter engine into the hatch’s engine bay at a later stage. This could make the Etios into a sort of a hot hatch.

Toyota Etios Hatchback has a vgt turbo with intercooler
engine is in-line 4 cylinder with electronic power steering
This car is the best in its type.
Guess, Toyota has made its mark by launching its Sedan version of Etios, the next important move would be to launch Hatchback. For the Indian masses the most likely prices are between 4 to 5 lakhs and there is no second thought that Toyota will leave any stone unturned to hit the competition hard and make its launch a grand success.
I wish you Best of luck to etios
good condition, it look like swift. When w`ll etios launch in kerala
[...] Etios Liva will be available in the market by March 2011. The vehicle will be launched in India day after tomorrow in Bangalore. Toyota will equip the Etios [...]
It will be a good machine, what about the safty features like ABS Or 4wheel-discs and the driving-pleasure and road-presence…? can be ascertained only when it comes on the roads of India. My experience is that the real-design(Toyota’s) will not exist at all, after all we are the customers living in India. Is TOYOTA-INDIA listening?
Also, no Toyota dealership in Srinagar,J&K STATE.

Well like all Toyota’s Etios lacks character, Looks so plane jade, you can’t relate to this car like a Swift
But being Toyota, it will kick the ass out of any other car in the segment when it comes to practicality and value for your Bug….
Pricing will play a major role, its interesting how Toyota will place its hatchback on the pricing front. If its neck to neck with Swift then definitely Toyota has a winner, however, is it priced like i20 then people will have second thought for etios.
