928 Nissan Micras sold in 15 days; Over 3,000 bookings recorded

This morning Nissan sent us a press release containing details of the Micra's performance in India thus far. The company has managed to deliver 928 Micras to Indian customers since July 15.

Nissan adds that it has received over 3,000 bookings for the Micra in India from the time display Micras reached dealerships in the last week of May.

The Nissan Micra has been introduced only with a petrol engine and has recorded respectable numbers in its short stint in India. Nissan has to think about bringing in the diesel motor as well as the automatic transmission model to get a head start. General Motors is readying the Beat diesel and Maruti Suzuki is preparing the A-Star automatic. Both these models are in the Micra's segment, so Nissan better work hard!

Nissan India registers 1005 nos total sales in July 2010

Nissan Micra achieves sales of 928 units since delivery began on July 15, 2010

Chennai/Mumbai, August 2, 2010: Nissan Motor India Private Ltd (NMIPL) today announced that it has registered total sales of 1005 nos for the month of July 2010.

Out of the 1005 nos, the sales of the newly launched Nissan Micra were 928 units in July 2010. The Made-in-India new Nissan Micra built on the versatile V Platform was launched nationwide on July 14, 2010 and the start of sales commenced across the country from July 15, 2010 in a phased manner. Out of the remaining, Nissan Teana, the luxury sedan (CBU) clocked 27 nos and Nissan X-trail; the lifestyle SUV (CBU) registered sales of 50 units.

The Nissan Micra, which was opened for bookings prior to its launch, has till date received more than 3000 bookings, far exceeding the company’s expectations. The number of 928 units achieved for the Micra since the sales began on July 15, 2010 has been out of this progressively increasing order book.

The market response to Nissan Micra has been very promising and encouraging and Nissan expects the number to increase in the coming months with the aggressive ramp-up of its dealer network. Nissan India presently has a network of 20 operational dealers across the country.

Nissan Micra is a smart, global hatchback simplifying urban mobility. The top variant of Nissan Micra boasts of category first features such as keyless entry, push-button engine start-stop system and electric foldable mirror. The Nissan Micra comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The wide gear coverage enables the 1.2-litre engine to achieve economy and brisk acceleration. With a top speed of 160kmph, the Micra provides a class competitive fuel efficiency of 18.06 km/litre (tested and approved by ARAI). The Nissan Micra is also equipped with a class competitive boot space of 251 litres that can easily carry those extra bags of shopping during travel.
