The Mahindra Xylo is slipping into an avatar of a distance load hauler for South Africa. The Xylo is among the chart busters in the Indian Automobile market this year and during its launch in January, Dr.Pawan Goenka, President of Mahindra’s Automotive Sector told us it will wear different costumes to take on many segments in the future. He also said they were looking at export markets and a petrol engine was taking shape for the same reason.
Utilization of the Xylo’s platform to make commercial vehicles is Mahindra’s next target. In the pipeline is a single cab pickup truck (which we’ve already shown you), a dual cab variant and this cargo van which has already been OK’d by the ARAI.
The Xylo cargo will have windows ‘blanked out’ to and no other alterations will arise to its exterior. The front seats will remain and the remaining will be vacated to open up a world of space.

The South Africa has more complicated geography and climate, a semi dessert weather, So I wonder how this van may suit with these stuffs. Maybe people use it in Johannesburg and other big cities only
Xylo is very strong vehicle. My idiot driver drove the xylo over divider on deive-in cinema road in ahmedabad. Thankfully nothing happened to the car. not even a scratch. I was both surprised and relieved. Only mahindra vehicles can b so strong I think.
First of all I couldn’t believe that Indian cars are good enough to be sold in country like South Africa. But I guess things have changed in Indian auto scene after all. In this Mahindra is the forerunner. They have their Scorpio pick up also being launched in US. This is great achievement. In any case, Mahindra vehicles have the ruggedness and durability to handle all kinds of terrain.
Xylo is a good vehicle and is seeling like hot cakes. Simply put, that is the sign of a quality vehicle. No one will buy something that is not worth. As far as Xylo is concerned, it is worth every penny. Sure it is a little imposing and huge but its dynamics are amazing. I think the tips that I found at http://www.mahindraxylo.co.in/care_tips_safety.html are very very helpful in maintenance of Xylo.
@amjad – yes, the Xylo is certainly proven and I guess its going to find more and more customers.
I think Xylo will make the best Cargo mover because of its powerful engine and its amazing turning radius. When I had bought Xylo I thought that steering the Xylo on corners would be tough because of its sheer size, but I was surprised by the convenient turning radius it provides.
Xylo already is a world of space. I love the MUV version. But when the pick up version comes out I will buy it more because of its stylish looks rather that its hauling capacity. With the 112 Bhp of the mEagle engine, it is going to be a very useful and practical pick-up
