While it might be wishful thinking, Skoda’s isn’t against trying a thing or two in India. It has sold cars like the Octavia vRS, Octavia Combi in India, and later this year, it will launch the Fabia Combi and the crossover Yeti next year which many others in India will only dream of doing.

Will the Superb Combi waft shores of India?

This car would offer unmatched space along with power and performance of the Superb. During our test drive we figured out the comfort and leg room at the back of the Superb is better than the 5 Series’ offer. If it could be priced at around 25 lakh rupees, and even potential Captiva and CR-V customer could be interested in such a product.

Then there are the Mercedes C-Class and BMW 3 Series buyers who want a stylish car with the traits of a SUV, or somewhere close. There are customers looking for value for every buck spent and not just to procure a car with an acclaimed logo on it.

I might be making no sense here to purists, but for the buyer with an Indian customer’s mentality, its pure music.

A total of six different versions of petrol and diesel engines will be offered, with layout ranging from a 105bhp 1.9 liter TDI to the top of the line 3.2 liter V6 coupled with VW’s DSG transmission for European stationwagon lovers.

And the name could be another reason to buy one. Say it out loud and listen to how it sounds – “Superb wagon”

This wagon doesn’t look that bad and should sell pretty well wherever it is released.
