Skoda’s Fabia has surpassed milestones and the company is quick to realize that a slightly bigger hatchback will be the most suitable follow-up.

Autocar UK reports by 2012-13, a new hatchback similar to the new Opel Astra, will sit between the Fabia and the next generation Skoda Octavia.

The future five-door coupe utilizes the underlying structure of the Volkswagen Golf and will feature the VW Group’s small-capacity normally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines and DSG transmissions.

However, the report confirms the absence of the revolutionary twin door boot that’s found on the new Superb, on this new hatchback.
