One of our favorite Fiats,  the Grande Punto, has got an adorable face lift, an almost different front end and a few more changes on the rear (visible in the images). We have been having a watchful eye on the face lifted model for the last few months.

This model is not yet reached the production, it will come only after its debut at the Frankfurt show in September.

The hugely successful Grande Punto was launched almost four years go in 2005 in Europe and has proved to be one of the best in the segment. It was launched very recently in India with petrol and diesel engines.

The earlier design was also admired and appreciated a lot, so changing it would have been a bit of a challenge.

The new design is a bit more aggressive unlike the earlier one. Some people might say that the front looks similar to the Ford Fiesta.

A larger front radiator grille, a black colored plastic bumper, round fog lights and differently positioned indicators are some things which are easily visible on the front of the stylized new Punto.

The rear tail light interests me a lot looking some what sporty and has large white internal lens covers.

You’ll see some new elements on the dashboard which are shared from the Bravo. There were plenty of complaints about the Punto’s dashboard, and a new spate of changes should fix all of that.

And people who are waiting to know what’s new under the hood is a Euro 5 complaint engine, 105 bhp of power, a 1.4 litre engine, Multiair induction technology, a Start-Stop technology and more.

Fiat plans to sell both the current Grande Punto and the facelifted vesion simultaneously. And did we tell you? This one’s going to be called the Punto Evo.

Fiat India can bring in the change in front grill which is much more pleasing and suave and the tail lamp cluster. In my opinion Indian Punto’s tail lamp cluster any way looks awesome and the new cluster is miles apart from its competitors (if any ;) )

New Punto’s interiors are the best I have seen in any car in this segment. And, I am sure Fiat India will not even think about introducing this for Indian customers till European Punto undergoes another radical change in 2011. Till then stick to what we get here.

@Vivek Shukla – I don’t think Fiat will change the existing car till like 2012. They’ve just introduced the GP in India and hence it would not be possible to bring the changes in this early.
