I don’t think if you release a Suzuki Swift with new wheel covers and dashboard color customers would flock showrooms and book one of himself and one for his wife. What we need Suzuki to give us is a proper facelift for the Swift with new headlamps, bumpers and interiors.

The addition of beige upholstery isn’t going help very much, is it?

Maruti Suzuki definitely looks threatened by competition. Hot-hatch segment in India is getting hotter with the launch of cousin Ritz, Fiat Grande Punto and Honda Jazz.

Hence MSIL has come out with a limited edition of its Swift, called Swift “Glam”

Available in both petrol and diesel variants, the Suzuki Swift Glam has,

  1. Beige Upholstery
  2. Integrated Audio System
  3. Keyless Remote Entry with buttons on the key fob.
  4. Rear parcel tray
  5. New Design wheel covers
  6. Dual Tone dashboard
  7. Body coloured outside rear view mirrors and door handles

Suzuki Swift Glam can be purchased with Goldsmith Black and Noble Arctic White colors.

    Hi Haribh,

    you have made the biggest in life by not choosing Punto from Fiat, Punto has revived the car sales for the company, a single product to get back Fiat to its glory.

    The Design cues of Punto are from Maserati( if you have heard) and is largest selling car in its category in Europe.

    Today Suzuki/GM/Ford and very own TATA has bought the multijet technology from Fiat Grande punto.

    Punto offers in dash multi information display at press of a button. It has best of the suspension in its class and superb for highway driving. the Road grip drive and braking is very impressive.

    Test Drive if you have not bought swift, or lose………….

    @prashant

    Please do not go for punto, the build quality is similar to Tata’s. I agree the design and style looks great but the build quality kills every positive note on this car. Low quality interiors are used in both Liniea as well as punto. This proves that they have tie up with tata. Rear boot space and leg room is very poor and can’t even think of comparing it with I10 or Ritz. Another minus not designed for taller people. I say the car is over priced. The blue & me is a trick to fool the people which is availbale only in the high end model(emotion pack). I was expecting the launch of this car but when I visited the show room I was highly disappointed but this is what we can expect from fiat. I recommend indica Vista over fiat punto.

    Finally I made up my mind and booked Swift Glam in chennai which cost around 5,14,000 on the road.

    If you have plans to buy next fiscal its better to go for Swift with BSIV standars i.e with K series engine

    its been more than a month i’ve done the bookings,but till now no despatches from the Maruti Factory…. not expected this from Maruti

  8. vincent says:

    Suzuki swift and punto are two different segmaent Suzuki caters to cheap cars without ride safety designs just a car with some fuel efficiency and good service back up.But Fiat Punto is a design marvel on wheel with abundent sfaety fetaure ans highest engine overhaul periods.Suzuki is not a well designed vehicle quite evident from dezire, a star etc.
    So the people who doesnot care about well designed safe car buys a Suzuki., but who is well aware of vehicle design principles, quality etc opts for vehivcle like Punto

    hey jaz i agree dat both d cars r aimed @ diff individuals , but then dey r diff in character as well . the swift is sporty and fun to drive ,while the ritz is spacious and practical . i just feel as a lot of the swift’s customers are youngsters who tune their cars anyways ,maruti should seriously consider offering the 1.6l engine option available internationally to create a hot hatch .

  11. Jaz says:

    @Suraj – Welcome to IAB :)

    Well, I think you would agree if I say both the cars are aimed at different individuals, but the Swift sales figures are not appalling or anything. It still continues to sell very well, much to the expectation of Maruti. The Ritz could cannibalize its sales, but to stop that, Maruti needs to clearly differentiate the Ritz and Swift. When I drove the Ritz the other day, I did not feel very different compared to a Swift. A thorough face lift is the need of the hour.

    @Car Blog – A very good possibility, but I just hope the new K-Series is fitted to a Swift that looks different.

    The swift wasnt a great family car to start with n with better options being available in the market now , that fact is being painfully exposed . Sure it was fun to drive but as a family car it didnt quite make the cut . Its high time maruti did a serious makeover job on the swift and reposition it as a perfarmance hatch for d young at heart ,with the Ritz catering to the family guy , instead of just slappin on some accesories .

    This is just stock clearance to make way for the K Series engine.
