D-Segment Suzuki Kizashi will arrive in India if launched in Japan

Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director Shinzo Nakanishi yesterday confirmed the entry of the D-Segment Suzuki Kizashi in India in 2009 if the car is launched in homeland Japan. According to sources, the Suzuki Kizashi might debut at the Los Angeles Auto show in November 2009.

Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi also revealed that the 3.5-liter V6 engine for the project has been scrapped and instead a smaller and more fuel efficient 2-liter engine will be the alternative to the Honda Accord, Skoda Superb and Toyota Camry slayer.

He added the market conditions and requirements have turned towards smaller and efficient engines and Suzuki Motor Corporation’s reflex is the scrappage of the 3.5-liter V6 variant which could have costed up to 25 lakh rupees in India if the original plan had gone through.

When asked about the remedy for the falling sales of the presently biggest car SX4, Mr.Nakanishi responded that a diesel engine would eventually arrive but the 1.3-liter Multijet that drives a handful of cars in India won’t make the cut as it is underpowered for application on SX4.

Suzuki fooled people of India for last24 years by manufacturing unsafe cars like omni and alto-800 because
people didnt have alternative and govt supported unofficially by waiving import duties for suzuki alone however all others paid in the form of inland excise duties.
Till date suzuki manufactures rattling 3-cylinder unbalanced
    engines
They make cars like swift dezire with a donkey’s ass and a frogs face.get confused them selves and cofuse all others in the form of A-star then ugliest Ritz with 1.3 multijet Fiat engine (rumoured to have copied from G.M USA drawing files evading royalty hassels).

@Riqwan- Yes, this looks brilliant. It looks very stylish, has all the Swift and SX4 ingredients in it. And the Vitara nightmares will haunt Maruti when they bring this car to India. It definitely will.

  6. Jaz says:

@Fas- this is more than just pricing my dear friend. It’s a maruti, so how can you expect its product to be a luxury car?

  7. Car Blog says:

If Maruti launches it in India, they will need more than good pricing to make it tick in the highly competitive D segment.

  8. Riqwan says:

Maruti Suzuki dominated the Indian automobile market through their small cars.. Visually, the Kizashi is very promising and it would be interesting to see how people react to the Kizashi since the Suzuki Grand Vitara was a flop.

  9. Dean says:

Chances we’ll get this car in South Africa?

Probably not that high… Unless we get it like 3 years after its released from production. . .

  10. Jaz says:

Ed, Suzuki is the biggest car maker in India. They are planning on introducing the Kizashi to fight against Honda and Toyota dominance in the luxury car market. We see Suzuki as a small car maker. I’m not sure if people will buy a Honda Accord-size car from Maruti as their Suzuki Vitara SUV was a big flop.

    Japan market = Indian market?

Thats a very bold statement for him to be making. He’s likening the two markets and thats very interesting.
