The Toyota IQ, Japan's answer to the Mini, Fiat 500 and the Smart has scored an amazing overall score of 79 percent at the recently conducted Euro NCAP crash test.
A better score was easily possible except for the pedestrian protection, where the Toyota iQ performed ordinarily, securing a mere 54 percent.
The Toyota iQ scored top marks in driver's seat protection, courtesy of its nine airbags, which come standard on this city car.
Other safety features on the Toyota iQ are ABS, Electronic Brake Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control and Traction Control. The Smart fortwo got 4 stars back in 2007, but as the assessment methods have changed, comparison is out of question.
