Mahindra & Mahindra, which recently unveiled its much awaited Xylo MUV at an attractive price tag of Rs.6,24,500 is set to raise many eyebrows in the coming years.

Fuel Efficiency continues to be Mahindra’s focus as an official announcement by the company reveals its electric and hybrid plans.

“We have to develop technologies for hybrid and electric vehicles. In a couple of years, we will launch hybrid and electric vehicles,” M&M, Head-Design, B Bhaumik said.

Indian readers should know about Mahindra’s micro hybrid Bolero and Scorpio which use Bosch’s start-stop technology. We have also informed you on Mahindra’s plans to introduce a 4-seater electric car in the coming years.

The Mahindra Scorpio Hybrid had been Mahindra’s star attraction at the Delhi AutoExpo last year. With this announcement,  we can expect it to be mass-produced within 2 years. Along with the Scorpio hybrid, the Ingenio platform will be heavily used to bring out a wide range of passenger and commercial vehicles.

IAB Comment- Mahindra has been in the news of late for both the XYLO and the JV of the Kinetic brand. We’ll continue to see Mahindra making headlines, as the most controversial move in recent times of approaching with all cylinders firing into the U.S, has to have an interesting result.

    We need specs. Particulary the charge requirements. Will it have a smart charger of sorts? What voltage drops can these cars take? 120AC,240AC,240 three phase 480 three phase, can the charger trottle at lower amp power points? Also what will be the configuration of the extension cord plugs? Also will these ev s be able to charge on projet better places power points? Is there any coformaty between manurfactures in unifing the infrastructure ? I read that Daimler Benz does not want to get unified with the Japanese or even the French in developing charge infrasture ? The way i see it is that it has to be three phase voltage to make this happen .
