The shift is towards greener cars and there’s a new green Toyota in town. The Yaris, or Vitz as it’s known in different places, underwent a makeover at this year’s SEMA autoshow featuring a wide bodykit and automated rear suicide doors (eh?). We think it looks much like the Renault Twingo as a result. The car is fitted with a set of DPE wheels that feature 11? wide rear wheels and are surrounded in Nitto tires, Rotora brakes and Tanabe lowering springs.
What’s most is that it’s actually green. Pop open the hood and you’ll see the Yaris 5 Door features compressed natural gas (CNG, as is popular in Pakistan). The CNG tank is housed in the back and is hidden until the rear tailgate is opened. So Toyota, when do we Indians get it then?
The Toyota Yaris sedan was spotted testing several times in India and so was the hatchback variant over the past 3 years. Expect simultaneous launches late next year.

I would like to add that I’ve been using a 2002 Vitz auto for 3 years on CNG and it runs like a charm. It is miserly on both CNG and petrol consumption. Although I run it on CNG most of the time. It once did 196 km on a full 55 kg tank! (highway driving)
And although it is slightly sluggish on CNG, it is a blast on petrol by any standards.
