2009 Skoda Octavia gets new steering wheel, dashboard and the 1.4 TSI Turbocharged petrol engine

Skoda has given the 8-year old C-segment Skoda Octavia liftback (aeroback) and estate a much needed facelift, for release in 2009. The Octavia had never been taken care of by Skoda in the recent past, so this facelift can help Octavia to at least stand up against stronger rivals like Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla Altis.

The front end receives a sharp dynamic look that reminds us of the soon to be launched Superb. Inside, Skoda has redesigned the steering wheel, the dashboard (white-backlit), all the controls and the decorative strips on the doors and the central console. Furthermore, new upholstery fabrics are available across all equipment levels.

The existing 1.6 FSI engine will be replaced by VW Group’s new 1.4 TSI Turbocharged petrol engine that  produces 122 Bhp, which is more than the outgoing FSI’s 115Bhp. The icing on the cake will be the Octavia vRS which will feature a 200Bhp Turbo FSI engine coupled to a twin clutch DSG transmission.

Other improvements include the new ‘adaptive Xenon headlamps’ and the installation of front ‘WOKS’ headrests that promises more effective rear impact protection. Overall, a very competitive package from Skoda !
