Chevrolet Aveo has always been a car which one can never relate to a runaway success. It is a very good car, but has been unlucky for some reason. Chevrolet Thailand knew that so it has recently launched the Aveo E20 in an attempt to boost its sales and use its fuel economy as a selling point.

The Chevrolet AVEO E20 dubbed ‘small car with a BIG design’, will be available in Thailand as standard, LS, LSX and LT models as well as a dynamic ‘Sport SS’ version and high-end ‘LUX’ model. All AVEO E20 models are configured to run on petrol, E10 or E20(ethanol) fuel.

The Chevrolet AVEO has been well received by both the local and global market,” said Antonio Zara, Vice president of Sales and Marketing, Chevrolet Sales (Thailand) Ltd. “Enhancing the AVEO to run on E20 is the sensible fuel option for customers who demand a compact car at an affordable price. We have put the new AVEO E20 through exhaustive tests to ensure the vehicle’s durability and performance using this new fuel.”

Apart from flexibility, Chevrolet also promises better performance.  Before its release, Chevrolet engineers completely overhauled the fuel system to make it ready for E20, changing seals, pumps, pipes and gauges to run on the new fuel and prevent erosion from the ethanol. Ethanol is hygroscopic in nature, meaning it has a tendency to absorb water vapor from the atmosphere, which is why the lines have to be replaced with a water-resistant material.

Under the hood the lies 4-cylinder, 16 valve, 1.4 litre, 1,399 cc MPFI engine that generates 94bhp at 6,200 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 3,400 rpm. Chevy designers have managed to maximize cabin size with more than enough room for four people to travel in comfort. It comes with European standard Euro-ride Suspension: McPherson Strut front suspension with stabilizer bar and coil springs and torsion beam rear suspension with European Helical Springs and gas-filled shock absorbers.

Chevrolet AVEO E20 is available with an introductory price of Rs.7 Lakhs (500,000 Baht) for 1.4 MT BASE and Rs.9.5 Lakhs (679,000 Baht) for the top of the range 1.4 AT LUX.
