Toyota Kirloskar Motor made headlines today with the launch of the Glanza which starts at INR 7,21,900*, and by now you must be well aware that it is based on the Maruti Baleno. Here's a detailed comparison between Glanza vs. Baleno, the rebadged car that was launched today, and the original car.

Baleno Vs Glanza 1
The Glanza comes with Toyota branding all around.

On the outside, it is very hard to differentiate between the two since both the cars share the exact same looks and dimensions. The Glanza comes with Toyota branding all around. Most of the visual bits on both the models are the same, such as the LED projector headlamps with DRL, the round fog lamps, the 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and the LED tail lamps. The one and only thing which differentiates the Glanza from its donor car is its unique two-slat 3D chrome front grille; take that away and it will be impossible to make out if comes from TKM or Maruti Suzuki.

The Toyota Glanza is offered in only five colour options including Cafe White, Sportin' Red, Insta Blue, Gaming Grey and Enticing Silver. On the other hand, the Maruti Baleno comes in six different colours including Nexa Blue, Premium Silver, Phoenix Red, Magma Grey, Arctic White and Fire Red.

Step inside the Glanza, and you'll find out that cabin and the dashboard layout has been carried over as it is from the Baleno. Sure, there is Toyota branding, but that's the only difference. The instrument panel, centre console, dashboard, steering wheel, floor console, upholstery and trim all are in the same design. TKM has renamed the SmartPlay Studio infotainment system to Smart Playcast, as if the original name wasn't cheesy enough.

Baleno Vs Glanza 2
The Toyota Glanza's G and V trims are equivalent to the Maruti Baleno's Zeta and Alpha trims respectively.

The Glanza is offered in two trims, namely G and V. The Baleno, on the other hand, is offered in four trims including Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The Glanza's G and V trims are equivalent to the Baleno's Zeta and Alpha trims respectively. Both cars come with many safety features, such as dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and BA, ISOFIX child-seat anchorages, reverse parking sensors, reverse parking camera and speed alert system.

The Glanza is available with both the BS-VI 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engines of the Baleno. One produces 61 kW (82.9 PS) and 113 Nm of torque and comes paired with a 5-speed MT or a CVT. The fuel economy delivered by this engine is 21.01 km/l (MT)/19.56 km/l (CVT). The second in the list delivers 66 kW (89.7 PS) and 113 Nm of torque and comes paired with a 5-speed MT. This engine has an ISG with a Lithium-ion battery and a Lead Acid battery.
