Yamaha M-Slaz

Yamaha M Slaz was the name of the unfaired version of the YZS R15 in India a while ago.  The 150cc naked streetfighter motorcycle with a muscular and sporty look can command the attention of everyone on the street.

Yahama M-Slaz Overview

Yamaha M-Slaz 150 was launched as the naked variation of the second-gen YZF-R15 which was once on sale in India. This street bike is based on the same platform as the YZF R15. In the Indonnesia market, M-Slaz is on sale under the name Xabre. It measures 1,959 mm in length. Other dimensions like width and height are 795 mm and 1,065 mm. The wheelbase stands at 1,350 mm.

There is no doubt the M-Slaz is a good-looking streetfighter. It gets a sharp and sober design with dragonfly-like headlamps, LED pilot lamps, golden-accented front folks. The motorcycle is praised for its solid build quality and premium look. It gets a single-piece seat with a lowered tail.

Yahama M-Slaz Engine

Powering the Yahama M-Slaz is a 149cc single-cylinder SOHC fuel-injected engine that churns out a top power of 16.09 BHP at 8,500 rpm and a maximum torque of 14.3 Nm at 7,500 rpm. It is paired to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. This engine could help the M-Slaz reach the top power of 132 kmph. The performance at low and mid-range is powerful and smooth. The fuel tank can hold up to 10.2 litres.

The M-Slaz is suspended on a 37mm upside-down front fork and a swingarm-linked mono-shock for the rear. It gets the same diamond type frame used on its sibling. The upside-down forks and lightweight platform helps to offer good handling. Performance at high speed is stable and reliable. Nice ergonomics and good riding quality make it a good bike for city commuters.

There is a 267 mm disc brake upfront and a 220 mm disc brake at the rear wheel. It rides on 17-inch alloy wheels. While the front rim is shod by a 110/70-17 tyre, the rear alloy gets 130/70-17 tyre type. However, in terms of safety, it is offered without ABS.

Yahama M-Slaz Features

Some notable features of the Yamaha M-Slaz include the LED headlamps, LED taillights, fully digital instrument console. The rider can read information likes speed, fuel consumption, tachometer and odometer. There are also low fuel warning, gearshift light, and service light on the instrument cluster.

Yahama M-Slaz India launch

Yahama M-Slaz is not available in the Indian market. Instead, we have the more premium 150cc engine of the M-Slaz here, which is the Yamaha MT-15. While it is unlikely that the M-Slaz will be introduced here, the Yahama M-Slaz price in India, if you wonder, will be around Rs 1.25 lakh in Indian currency.
