Suzuki Motorcycles India registers 13 percent growth in November sales

The Burgman 125 and the Access 125 continue to fuel sales of Suzuki Motorcycles India as the two-wheeler brand registered 13 per cent increase in year-on-year sales in November 2018. In the domestic market, Suzuki Motorcycles India clocked 53,058 units as against 42,722 units in the corresponding month last year.

Domestic and exports combined, Suzuki finished with 56,531 units, versus 49,647 units in November last year – an increase of 13 per cent. The year-to-date numbers at the end of the Q3 of FY2018-19 stood at 493,329 units. Suzuki Motorcycles India has set a sales target of 750,000 of FY2018-19.

Sales were led by the Access 125 which continues to be the best selling scooter in the 125cc segment, while the Burgman 125 added to the momentum.

Meanwhile, Suzuki has been expanding its portfolio with the launch of products across the board. October witnessed the arrival of the Suzuki’s middleweight adventure tourer, the V-Strom 650XT (INR 7.46 lakh*) along with dirt track oriented RM-Z250 (INR 7.1 lakh*) and RM-Z450 (INR 8.31 lakh*) in the Indian market.

Speaking about the sales performance, Satoshi Uchida, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India, said:

The consistent double digit growth that we have maintained in November as well, is a testimony to consumer trust that Suzuki enjoys in India. We are confident of carrying forward this momentum into the coming months as well, and achieve our sales target of 7.5 lakh units in FY18-19.

On the subject of upcoming products, a report last month claimed that Suzuki might introduce the Gixxer 250 in the Indian market. It added that the quarter-litre naked roadster will be launched in India by as early as April 2019 to compete with the Yamaha FZ25, TVS Apache RTR200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS200.
