Royal Enfield launched the 650 twins in India at very affordable price points to make them accessible for the existing 3.5 million customers in India. While legacy issues have been addressed by Royal Enfield and validated by reviewers, none of them extensively spoke about the headlight. Gaadiwaadi has come up with a detailed ‘night test’ of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, and here are the details.

As can be seen from the video, the headlamp on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 offers excellent illumination at night. According to the publication, the low beam offers a throw up to 20 metres while the high beam illuminates up to 40 metres of the road. It should be noted that the Interceptor 650 doesn’t feature tech like LED or projector headlights.

The reflector-type halogen headlamps are shared with the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 as well, and we can expect similar performance on the café racer. The Interceptor 650 uses a 55/60W H4 Halogen bulb for the headlight while the taillight and turn indicators also employ halogens. For the touring riders, the stock headlamp setup should be sufficient during night rides.

Royal Enfield hasn’t loaded the 650 Twins with any modern tech whatsoever to maintain the authentic classic appeal of the motorcycles. The company considered employing the 650 twins with USD forks, mono-shock and alloy wheels; however, Royal Enfield opted otherwise. To maintain the authentic design, Royal Enfield didn’t choose liquid cooling from the outset as according to the company, an air-cooled motor helps maintain the style.

The Interceptor 650 is powered by a 648cc, parallel-twin motor that features a secondary balancer shaft and a 270-degree firing order. The engine produces 47 bhp of power and 52 Nm of peak torque, mated to a six-speed gearbox with a standard slipper clutch. The powertrain is entirely modern in its construction and has been developed to offer a linear torque curve.
